Horton 44 - Falls City 33
Horton led Falls City 15-14 after a back and forth first half but sophmore Keely Cowley ingnited a third quarter charge scoring 9 of her team high 11 points to help the third seed Horton pull away for a 44-33 win. Fellow sophomore Mariah Hisle also scored 11 and Naveigh Graf chipped in 10 for the winners who improved to 7-5 and advanced in the winners bracket for the first time in six years at the HIT. Ashleigh Jordening had 11 for Falls City who dropped to 6-11.
Marysville 56 - Nemaha Valley 37
In the four versus five seed matchup Marysville scored 10 of the first 12 points in the game and never trailed by fewer than 6 improving to 7-4. Sophomore Abi Degenhardt came off the bench to score a season high 22 points and Maggie Leonard chipped in 11. Nemaha Valley got 15 from McKayla Brezina and 10 from Ashley Rottinghaus but fell to 6-5 losing for the first time in 5 games.
Rock Creek 53 - Hiawatha 23
The top seed and four-time defending HIT Champions started slow but took their first lead 8-6 at the end of the first quarter and never trailed in coasting to a 30-point victory. Elizabeth Herrs scored 13 of her 15 in the first half and Megan Srna scored a game-high 18 in the Lady Mustangs 10th win of the year.
Troy 47 - Jackson Heights 35
Trailing 11-7 early in the second quarter, Troy freshman Alex Winder came off the bench and scored 5 straight points to key an 11-0 run that put the Trojans ahead for good. Troy outscored Jackson Heights 13-8 in both the second and third frames and had four players score 8 points each to improve to 7-3 on the season. Morgan Thomas had 10 of her 14 in the second half for Jackson Heights who is 3-9 after falling to Troy by 12 for the second time in January.
