MARYSVILLE CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL RESULTS

Hiawatha High School took second place in both the boys and girls team standings at the Marysville Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. The Horton girls team took 3rd and the boys finished 8th, both Nemaha Valley squads were 4th, the Axtell boys took 5th and the Centralia boys were 7th. The top individual finishers were Kanzaland athletes as well. Cale Heiniger finished 19 seconds ahead of Centralia‘s Lukas Koch, who placed second in the boys race. On the girls side, Horton‘s Leah Murata edged an Omaha South runner by less than 4 and a half seconds.
Hiawatha‘s Chris Babel, Nic Babel and Brendan Steele finished 7th, 12th and 14th, respectively. Adam Koch of Frankfort took 6th place and Shane Torrey of Axtell finished 8th. In the girls race, Jordan Puvogel placed 3rd while her Hiawatha teammate Kassidy Miller finished 9th. Axtell runners Audrey Schmitz and Tricia Schmitz took 4th and 12th, respectively. Nemaha Valley‘s Ashley Rottinghaus crossed the finish line in 8th as her teammate MiKayla Peterson was 15th. Hannah Stirton of Horton finished in 11th place.
