The KSHSAA has announced the new two-year classification cycle for high school football teams in the state of Kansas. Oskaloosa and Jefferson County North are dropping back down to the Class 2A ranks while B&B, Frankfort, and Elwood are falling from 8-Man Division One down to Division Two of eight-man football. Blue Valley Randolph is the only Twin Valley League team that is moving up to 8-Man Division One.
Jeff County North is now the largest Class 2-1A school in the state and has just one more student than Nemaha Valley. The Raiders will remain Class 3A in football the for the next two-year cycle despite the smallest enrollment for that class.
Other statewide notable class changes include five-time defending state champion Smith Center moving up to Class 3A and Rock Creek falling back down to Class 3A after a couple years in the 4A ranks. There are also 10 high school football teams in Kansas that are making the transition from 11-man to 8-man football starting in 2010.
